Cables or headphones....

With the Freedom package there are the complimentary (for us at least) cables to connect to a audio-socket on a CD-player or other appliances..
It works.. but it takes time to put it on... Plus, the BTE needs to go outof the pouch (in Lotte's case) and hang on her ear. Not the favorite location in Lottes world.. And.. it will be connected to only 1 BTE. OK... with a splitter, you can get it to both, but you can forget about any stereo-effect..

So, we bought wireless headphones.... They will cover the BTE's when on the ear... Stereo sound... Yes..!!
Still, we have to get the BTE's on the ears, but then... Lotte loves it..
Next station.... make her listen to storybooks on CD's instead of watching TV....

But... back on the shoulders when she's done.....

ummmm what about HATIS earhooks that could work with tele coil?a bilateral one ?you could slip em in her pouches?

or noizfree or geemarc brands that are Cheaper.

I was thinking about music links- I've heard they work with both CI and hearing aids. Maybe they could slide into the pouches along with her processors.

We have hearing aids, but we are looking for something for Nolan this summer. We have a portable DVD player and want to get some sound to his ears (he doesn't mind watching movies silently, but it bothers me)! We can also get direct audio input cables for his aids, so I'm going to ask our audiologist about this.

Melissa
I'm always watching my movies silently. I guess I really need to find my CI links :S Think I'v lost them though. I guess i need to enquire for a new one

Lotte
Nah, just get som of these headphones. They will do the trick.. Easier (cheaper?) that special BTE-cables..

Lotte
Anyone doing this / trying..
Tell me how it sounds.... :-)
Good to get that kind of info from an adult, instead of Lotte....

I had these kind of headphones when I was younger - wired ones of course. They used to be good - but when I tried silhouette's - lighter , better and more quality sound I shelved my headphones.Guess I'll dig them out to try with CI, and compare.

What are "silhouette's"... ??

Vivie
http://www.connevans.co.uk/store/viewProduct.do?id=2397942 these...you put them beside your ears and you turn on the T on CI's...I got mono ones though since I always own one piece ( one HA , one CI )

you can pair it with this one http://www.connevans.co.uk/store/viewProduct.do?id=2535808 Anyway I am on the track to get both of these for various reasons , I'll try them out and tell you if you want.

Lotte
Ah.... interesting..... But looks like FM equipment.... Guess for us the benefit of the headphones is that the other two (kids) can use it as well...

if I remember correctly , Lotte has FM equipment - Smartlink can be connected in any mp3/CD player/TV I think.same wireless - but yes , headphones are good too.I just used to hate em because my aids whistled like crazy.

Lotte
She has, but we never used it... yet...
Feedback.. Ah, remember that from Lotte's HA-days.... Would drive me nuts.. and Lotte never noticed...
But for you, with CI, that should not be a problem..

Vivie
indeed - am thinking of digging in the attic , see if I can find my headphones and use them...I'm curious abt fm - why don't you try it sometime?

Umm abt feedback , it's so strange to hear a whistle and my hand goes on to my CI - habits are hard to break , LOL!

Lotte
Well.. we will try it soon to see how much Lotte needs it in the classroom. We feel that she's following OK. Introducing the FM would mean extra hassle for the teacher, because she would have to change out the rechargeable batteries with the FM-piece with normal batteries..
Guess we could let her go to school with the FM already installed.....

Just send her to school with the FM attachment already in. When Lissy goes to school she has it in place before she leaves the house. So there is no extra worry there for the teach of having to change the battery piece with the FM piece. Sometimes it stays there all weekend. It doesn't change the level of hearing she has received with the FM receiver worn constantly, and she has never complained about it.

Yes, that's the idea. Would save a lot of trouble, but would eat up batteries, and we have to buy them ourself. Bit overkill when we have rechargeable batteries.
Plus, Lotte would need them when the whole class is addresses. Normally they work in small groups, with the teacher (s) visiting them...
Spoke to Lotte's teacher and she saw no need for FM, but was interested in trying it out..
